From the Desk of CEO
In reality, an organization’s culture does not arise spontaneously or maintain itself automatically. It is the product of attitudes and behaviors that are very much within our capacity to shape and control.
Think about the many changes that have taken place since the MAH India was formed in 1996.
In each phase of our maturation as an organization, we have set goals, developed strategies and assigned resources, just as we do on all of our customer programs. And that’s the same approach we are now taking as we focus on establishing and reinforcing a common culture that permeates every corner of our organization.
A strong, unifying culture is imperative for many reasons. For one, it increases our customers’ confidence that they will encounter the same standards of excellence in every successful delivery. Our ability to apply expertise to our clients' most important business issues has paid off: over 90% of our engagements come from repeat clients or referrals. Our clients come back to MAH India because they know we will partner with them to bring clarity, strategic insight, direction, and confidence as we address their most pressing challenges and opportunities and that is hunting the pool of talent in order to place right candidate at the right position.
Our clients put their confidence in us because we help them create leading-edge results. And because we work with them in a way that provides an outstanding experience. Clients hire us because our work is exceptionally rigorous, creative, and unconstrained by conventional wisdom, and because we tailor how we work with them with a great deal of empathy for their specific needs and culture.
For another, it improves our agility in responding to opportunities that require teaming across business lines.
Perhaps most importantly, it gives our employees a clear understanding of what’s required for them to succeed, so that every MAHite teammate can contribute to his or her full potential. In an industry where competition for talent is intense, a work environment that’s centered on integrity, respect and opportunity is a powerful tool for attracting and retaining top-quality people, at all stages of their careers.
These are not new focus areas for us. We have long regarded every one of them as being fundamental to our corporate values of Do What’s Right, Respect Others, and Perform With Excellence. What is new is our emphasis on a coordinated approach that ensures every element of our culture complements and strengthens the others.
I encourage you to expect the best from your colleagues, your company and yourself, to express your concerns when you experience anything less, and to share your ideas for how we can continue to improve. In the end, our success in shaping the culture lies in your hands.
Effective leadership at MAH isn’t only about getting results. It’s about getting results in the right way. Our leaders are expected to continually promote ethical behavior, support diversity and make decisions that protect the health and safety of employees as well as the natural environment.
Ultimately, every one of us is a leader, because we all control the attitudes and behaviors of at least one person - ourself - and we set an example for our colleagues. And this is become possible by some of our pillars, they are continuously providing strength to us.
MAH India is the organization that is one of its own kinds. We brought up different concepts that are rarely visible in our industry. We are the first Non Poaching organization and following this concept from the day of inception, not only following we have provided a meaning to this concept. Till date no other organization is able to adopt this concept.
We have seen so many ups and downs in our journey but we remain stood as a strong tree with deep-seated roots. These roots are our integrity and culture that let us face all the challenges. We also faced three great recessions but our business remained unaffected because we don’t believe in doing business, we maintain relationships.
Talking about management, organizations often have different philosophical beliefs and vision, but a common trait all businesses possess is an established management framework, although these can vary in structure. Despite the varying factors of structure which may exist amongst organizations, the foundational role of management in a company bear a lot of similarities because they all have the need to be able to successfully meet their companies' objectives. Instead following a general trend, I gave my own definition to my management.
As I am an entrepreneur, I am looking for an entrepreneur in each employee of my company, thus planning according and facilitating them to become an entrepreneur within the organization. They need not to move out in the market and establish them as owners. Step by step I am converting my employees into entrepreneur.
Initially, I have transferred all my powers to my management/BUHs. An important role management must play is the decision maker. This applies to financial, budgetary, personnel, policy and security judgments. These are not always easy decisions, but they must be made and management takes on that duty.
Few years back all the operational activities were transferred into their hands. Later, I also shifted the financial powers to the BUHs. Management whole solely took all the financial and operational decisions and I dissolved my powers in the company. I am planning to dissolve the incentive plan for each employee as well and going to apply profit sharing program by the next fiscal year. In this way, all the employees will have certain stake in the organization, and rather than being an employee they will become the owner of the company.
For which they need not to invest anything from their pockets. Only thing they have to deliver is the quality time and efforts in the organization.
I remember the day when I started this organization, I was all alone and gradually build this organization with the deep thought into my mind that I will not only build an organization of my own rather I will build a team of entrepreneurs, they will receive a training to become an owner from day one.
My team stood up with the same skills as I delivered to them. Efficiency and ability in the members is identified and they grown up as entrepreneurs. I proud of all of them. Their efforts and dedication made it easier to me take decisions like sharing ownership among them as they are proving themselves and taking forward all the responsibilities to run the organization smoothly and successfully even after the delegation of authorities from my end.
Last but not the least, "I would like to give my special thanks to my colleague Meenu Singh for her sincere efforts in writing content for our new website."
